John Nese is the proprietor of Galco’s Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lover’s destination. About 500 pops line the shelves, sourced lovingly by John from around the world. John has made it his mission to keep small soda-makers afloat and help them find their consumers. Galco’s also acts as a distributor for restaurants and bars along the West Coast, spreading the gospel of soda made with cane sugar (no high-fructose corn syrup if John can avoid it).

What a horrible idea from this man. Sure it seems awesome, but that place is gonna go under in less than a year.
  • Nick Parente 1 year ago
Really dude? You do realize that this guy has been doing this since 1995 right? People absolutely love this idea (myself included, I live in Michigan and seeing this makes me want to make a special trip out to LA just for this store). I really don't think his place is going to go under anytime soon.

Interesting and a bit fun with good pacing and editing. I liked that it was broken up into segments on topics. The subject was great as you can see he loves what he does. A bit long for the topic, but one of the better documentaries I have seen on vimeo.

Brilliant film, and looks like a brilliant shop, @Paul Tracy we can get the 'Curiosity Cola' here in the UK, at least, as it's brewed and bottled in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This is such a great story and video. Love it so much I had to link it on our website. It truly shows why there are no substitutes for knowledge and passion. With those in place a company's brand will always be real and will always find loyalty and longevity.

He's so engaging and his enthusiasm is infectious. The way he talks about soda is the way some people speak of wine. Wish I could try that Romanian rose petal one and hope he makes that pineapple cream one someday! Interesting tidbit about the Moxie soda, too!

Great film. THis is what I love to see. The " small " stories that slip through the cracks.
I could listen to this guy for hours.
War, politics and all the " heavyweight " stuff is trite and preach-y. It assumes a mantle of importance through it's subject matter.
This is important exactly because it doesn't try to be.

I LOVVVVVED this video. This place is 5 minutes from my house and this video inspired me to finally go. The owner is on point with everything he said. I really appreciate the fact that he makes it a point not to carry plastic bottles. He seems swell and I intend to visit/meet him :)
