Following several years of documentary work with various organizations on and around the Penobscot River, I partnered with the Penobscot River Restoration Trust to capture the beginnings of an unprecedented project in river health restoration. In 2012, the trust, which comprises a diverse group of stakeholders, commenced a multi-year project to remove two dams and the install a fish passage on a third, opening up nearly 1000 miles of habitat to sea-run fish.
This video is one of possibility and potential, documenting the initiation of this project and celebrating the promise of a rejuvenated waterway for the benefit of the watershed and its community.
