Handcrafted with love by BYU design students and faculty, for the 5th Typophile Film Festival. A visual typographic feast about the five senses, and how they contribute to and enhance our creativity. Everything in the film is real—no CG effects!

Shot with a RED One, a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, a Canon EOS 40D, and a Nikon D80.

mind-blowing, very stylish.. no cg, but why do some parts look cg? in my pov thats a waste of time. I mean I loved the parts in wich you could really see all the hard work and the feel of hand crafted artwork, But then again Loved it!

Thanks for the compliments! Re: some parts looking CG, I am interested in knowing which parts you think look that way. It was a concern at the beginning of the project, that some scenes would look "too polished" or "too CG." But we decided to go ahead and do what worked best to communicate the "5 senses" concept, and the tangibility and sensory joy of creativity. We hope that the fact that some parts look CG, but were actually produced with analog means, will make it more amazing and mysterious!

Wonderful work, and very clear approach. You , Brent, are absolutely right : technology doesn't count, only ideas and creativity produce marvelous sensations. As typographer's son, I'm particularly touched by this lettering apotheosis. And I'm also a fan since ever of stop motion ! So, let's freely compete with the digital imperialism !

Very inspiring stuff! I have to do this kind of animation too. How did you process the letters? Seems quite expensive when you have many different materials.

Fantastic well done. Hard to work out which shots from which camera's. They all work pretty seamless. Im assuming all the slow motion shots where done on the RED as the Canon only shoots 30fps.
