A contribution to the debate on North Korea's beating of the war drums, April 2013. The friendly looking man in the video is Kim Yong-un, North Korea's current leader.Von Clausewitz was a Prussian military theorist and strategist. He coined the phrase "absolute war", which he didn't think was possible outside the realm of theory. The Nazis, calling for "total war", proved him wrong. Henry Kissinger is a disciple of von Clausewitz. Kissinger had to flee Germany in the 1930s because of the Nazis. He considers warcraft as a form of politics in which power is the only measure of things, a view known by the German term Realpolitik. And he followed this logic ruthlessly as U.S. Secretary of State during the Vietnam war. The tradition has been continued to this day by the United States. The global superpower is armed to the teeth but has lost much of its political, economic, and moral power. The only reliable defense against U.S. intervention has been the possession of nuclear arms. This is why Iran is very interested.
