"Hip Hip Mestizaje: Racialization, Resonance, and Filipino American Knowledge of Self" is a short documentary highlighting the loyalty and dedication Filipino Americans from coast-to-coast have for hip hop culture. It attempts to answer the question, “Why Filipinos, why hip hop?”

The cultural and racial impact of colonization is one reason for Filipino Americans’ immersion in hip hop, and the diverse set of artists featured in the film demonstrate how the culture shapes their own selfhoods.
