3. AG-HMC40 Camcorder, the latest in the AVCCam Line-up
3 months ago
Here’s Panasonic’s newest AVCCAM handheld camcorder, the AG-HMC40. It captures full HD video and 10.6-megapixel stills.

This dual-use camcorder records on inexpensive SD cards, and can record for up to 12 hours of AVCHD video on a single 32GB SD card.

In its exclusive 24Mbps PH mode, it can record up to 3 hours of 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 video, delivering images far superior to HDV.

I hope that you and Steve Golub will be at the upcoming DV Expo. It will be fun to check out the camera at the Panasonic Booth.

NLE means Non-Linear Editing which is your editing program. She did explain how to put it on your computer to work with the footage....

About the style of this video: Steve Golub talks to an invisible interviewer, not to us, the viewers. Isn't this a direct message to prospective customers? Could someone explain to me this stylistic choice, considering that we don't feel the presence of the interviewer.

I think the style of the video is very similar to all of our videos, his delivery is perhaps a little different than mine as I tend to talk about machines as if human. These are not that easy to do if you ar not used to being in front of a camera, there is no script per se and you are just talking. So maybe I am missing the point, did you watch mine, the HPG20 one and did you feel the same? Interested.

The point is that Steve and you are talking not directly to the viewer, but to an invisible interviewer, so it feels as if these short videos are parts of an interview, with questions cut out. Nothing wrong with it, it works, and it is interesting that in your case it works somewhat better, because your delivery makes it more intimate, more like an real interview.

But then at 2:47 you change the game by saying "This product has actually been designed by you, for you and your applications". Are you telling this to the interviewer? Because you surely do not talk to the viewer, you are not looking into the camera. I think, this makes me not energized about the product. But then I should not be, I don't have a P2 camcorder.

As to "all of our videos", here is a different one: blog.panasonic-broadcast.com/2009/07/videoblog_4_cmos/ :-)

Hi, as the AVCHD Evagelist, I have a blog, which reflects my perspective as a shooter and user of the gear. The opinions are mine, not necessarily Panasonic's. avccamontheroad.blogspot.com/
If you are interested, follow me on the blog.
And I am trying to upload some video here and on the blog.
    More to come,

    To AVCHD user:
I agree that videos where the person talks to the camera (and therefore to you) are preferable. Watch this space and let's see what we can do.

Different than ours, perhaps there is room for a mixed genre. I like Jaime's direct speaking into the camera, yet I like responding to the pointed questions. So maybe there is a happy medium. Thanks for the insite

So, there were questions, and it was an interview? Why then telling "This product has actually been designed by you" to an interviewer if he is not a P2 user? I just think this final pitch does not fit the style of the infomercial as a whole. Thanks for taking time to reply.

I understand what you are saying but through out the process, I was feeling like I was talking to you as a potential customer. The questions are asked from an endusers perspective, so the interviewer seems like a customer, at least while you are doing one of these. So it really does feel like you are talking to a custmer.

Jan, How does the 40 compare to the 150 ?
  •
  • Jan Livingston plus 2 months ago
The 40 has more apparent resolution, but less sensitive in low light. 40 is CMOS and the 150 is CCD.

What camera is this product demonstration filmed on?

They used an AG-HPX500, I believe in 1080, but will confirm.
