This mercilessly hilarious satire follows the misadventures of Bobby Avalanche, Utah's snowboarding wonder, on vacation in Hawaii as he faces a series of unforgettable beach movie clichés in pursuit of genuine surf lessons from a gorgeous local girl.

This short film was shot in 2006 (a time before the GoPro) in Hawaii during a 40-day rain spell. Being a fan of 80's ZAZ films (Airplane, The Naked Gun, Top Secret), Mel Brooks films (Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs), Joel Gallen (MTV Movie Awards, Not Another Teen Movie), and the Wayans Brothers (Scary Movie 1 & 2), I figured it was time for someone to skewer surf-themed movies that take themselves too seriously. In the creation of this film, I learned to appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes to do water photography.

Surf Movie was produced in 2006 and was an Official Selection of the 2007 Unity Crayons Film Festival.
