The images are from Bagan in Burma. The temple like structures are mostly stupas - structures commemorating holy and/or loved people. Bagan is where Buddhism took root in Burma many years ago. Now it is fairly empty - its a vast landscape, the monuments span a 40km square area or so! Fantastic. It was a hot day of picture taking - we reclined in a heatstroke daze in one of the monuments .
The landscape was semi-accurately modeled in 3Dstudio max based on maps. A book of architectural sketches that we purchased at a booth there was used for the cross sections. Images were inserted via a special script that modified VRML files - the VRML files were then imported in to Max. Final edit in Premier.
