Thankyou all for your kind comments,

Seriously, a small crew worked very hard, and without pay to make this film possible, so it means a great deal.

Ive had enquiries about DVD copies of Plague, There was a limited run , and there are a few available in both pal and ntsc, please message if your keen for one, ill do them at cost price.

I don't know what your budget was, but you and your crew have produced an incredibly professional looking movie here. The cinematography is beautiful. I hope the movie gets you guys the attention you deserve.

James, camera was a hv30, with a vibrating adapter and canon lenses. edited in FCP and After Effects.

A truly fantastic short film... You've got some serious talent. Easily the best no-budget film I've ever seen. Great story, great effects... And the set design was fantastic. (As well as the camera shots!) I loved just about every aspect of it, and hope to see one of your films get in the theaters!
  • Matt Simpson 2 years ago
Hey Amp, thats a such a compliment, Thankyou, we are working on our first feature right now, so fingers crossed for the theatres...

  • Tony Linford 2 years ago
Matt, I'm an avid Zombie picture fan & your short really gripped me. Loved the wrecked house where you set one of the final scenes, it must have taken some work to find that location. You film combined superb camera work (I'd be interested to know how many cameras you used) & a sound story. Your work is a welcome addition to this genre & I also hope to see you in theatres soon.
  • Matt Simpson 2 years ago
    Hey Tony,

Thanks for your comment, its cool when the real genre fans approve, the derelict location was a real find. I must say I was pretty scared, first time I stepped foot inside, as it looked pretty much how it does in the film.

Just the one cam for this project. As for the feature, it will be in a similar dark tone, but a very different subject matter. ill keep updating here until Antheadfilms.com is up and running.
    Cheers

What a great film! One of the best indie films i've seen in a long time.

I'm very interested in hearing more about this feature film thats being produced, and if it's in the same vein as Plague?
  •
  • Goodness me, what an absolute cracker! I hope you get some proper distribution for this short, it's really excellent. The derelict location was fantastic! How did you find it? Great job :)
  • Matt Simpson 2 years ago
Thanks Rabbit, the derelict was a real find, and by pure luck, the holes in the walls were giving us some really cool light, it was really ready to fall down,

Its looking likely that Plague will be distributed by a Canadian company, on dvd and bluray, as part of a disc/ book set, featuring various undead fiction in print and short films, called the Zombie Chronicles, ill keep updates posted.
    Glad you enjoyed it.

Beautifully crafted work. I loved everything about this and it really held my attention all the way through. The camerawork and 'look' of the film was stunning and the editing was exceptional throughout. What really made this stand out though was the sound design, very impressive. Congrats on producing such a great piece of work.

we think zombies deserve better! people have forgotten what makes them scary.

Wow. I mean why do we still bother going to the movies and pay to watch mainstream "horror" movies when the talent is definitely not there anymore.

Congratulations, this is the best thing I've seen since 28 days later. It's even better than the last Romero's movies. Better than Rec.
I hope to see a feature film from you...

I love this film. But I love it even more the fact that you (Matt Simpson) answer your questions. Great and humble.

Question: I was hoping for the hammer at 15:53 to give us that impending sound of doom which signifies giving in to dread- a fate worst than death. Why didn't it make a single sound?, (like Thor, this hammer saved or prolonged his life for a while) In other words: slow motion and a goodbye boom.
Also, was it your choice to shoot the entire film in vignette, (with that frame look) I guess the film is a flash back story.
I'm glad you didn't overuse the vibrator.
  • Matt Simpson 6 months ago
Juan, thank you for watching! I am always more than happy to answer questions about the short.

    (SPOILERS)

Both valid questions that "kind of" tie in. The vignette- We did some tests with and without and decided it almost added to the feeling of claustrophobia, so it stayed.

Plague was always intended to be an almost first hand experience, we are right there with Vilhelm, all the way to the bitter end. The hammer is hope and we don't hear it drop because Vilhelm doesn't.

In that moment, It can't save him and (like his hope) it has become redundant, a fragile feeble stick of wood.

    So sorry-- no resounding BOOM!
    thanks for watching.

    Best,

Hello Matt, - fantastic short, not a massive fan of this genre of film but have to say you had me hooked - you shot this on an HV30 and have acquired such a magnificent filmic quality, proving that it can be done with terrific production value and the journey with the main protagonist keeps the viewer gripped - superb job - I look forward to your next one!! :>) Jay Laker.

I really loved this story, I love horror movies especially zombie ones, but lately holywood have put this genre on the floor, this piece takes us back to the classic stories taking shape using modern elements, i really dig the rithym of the story and suffered along with the protagonist, from my point of view a truly and totally success a wonder that can only be found on the net ... MAtt congratulations from the end of the world, South America, Chile.
