On 11 August 2009, Patrick J Michaels presented a lecture to the IPA on "Climate of Extremes".
Patrick J Michaels, Distinguished Senior Fellow in the School of Public Policy at George Mason University, and Senior Fellow in Environmental Studies with the Cato Institute.
Patrick J Michaels is a prominent and influential climatologist in the United States. His latest book, Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don't Want You to Know, was written with co-author Robert C. Balling, Jr. and released in January this year. Climate of Extremes is an in-depth look at consistent, solid science on the other side of the gloom-and-doom global warming story that is rarely reported and pushed aside. Michaels and Balling find that global warming is likely to be modest, and there is no apocalypse on the horizon.
Michaels is a contributing author and reviewer of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. His writing has been published in major scientific journals, including Climate Research, Climatic Change, Geophysical Research Letters, Journal of Climate, Nature, and Science, as well as in popular serials such as the Washington Post, Washington Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Houston Chronicle, and Journal of Commerce.
