This is a robot that we've connected to the internet. You can send it messages and it will write them out. It's part of a project commissioned by v, The National Young Volunteers Service. It is aimed at getting young people to connect with Westminster. We're asking them 'what do you care about' and their responses will be written out in Parliament by this robot, in real time, for MPs to read directly. We hope it will bring both sides closer together. voicebox.vinspired.com

I think they should add voice to the output.

what the robot speaks what it writes? hmmm. think there's something elegant in the silence of it. maybe if we could bring Barry White back to do the v/o.

Adding voice would be useful for a) MPs who cannot read. Voice would also drown out b) MPs who cannot stop talking. In fact the democratic process could be entirely mechanized and handled with no MP present. Twitter has taught us that people are perfectly happy to talk all day without getting an answer. Then you just need trending software coupled to voice-recognition capture and there you have always-on democracy.
