    Votre ami, Karen

    I like the shoe-box effect ...

... but I was even more impressed with Karen's lengthy and seemingly expert commentary in French -- that is, until I put it through babel fish and discovered that she had generated it the same way LOL :-)
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
ahahah, Babelfish is still making some very original translation.
  • hahaha. Rems makes me want to go back and brush up on my french that I took for a couple years in college.
  • Arnold Kopff plus 2 years ago
LOL ... as an Aussie, I can barely speak English, let alone something as "exotic" as French ;-)

The folks at Canon are shaking their heads and the kid putting a HD camera in a shoebox. Nice work.
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
Ahah, it's not real HD but your comment made me laugh out loud, thanks.

This is great! I love the house shot, the shoe box is perfect.
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
Thank you ! In fact that house is, hmm, me searching my words, a place where in the past century, a small amount of hydroelectric power was produced.

I'm trying this... Made the box already with a canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens at one end and a Canon HG10 camcorder at the other :). Think I need better paper, though. Will try it out tomorrow when it's daytime :D Thanks for the inspiration.
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
Really cool. Hope it will work. really interested to know how it's working with a real camera lens, does it have enough light ? Not too heavy ?
  • [ PIXEL VIKING ] plus 2 years ago
I have now posted some test footage.

    vimeo.com/653899

Plenty light even indoors at night. The 50mm lens is not heavy at all.

I like the location you chose: it really brings what this box does to colors as well as to the focus.
    As usual, beautiful work Remy.

Thanks. I made a "How to" video today for the shoebox. It's really not complicate to do. (not sure my video is clear though)

    Wow Remyy,

The tracing paper adds a nice film like grain...how the heck did you come up with "shoebox" idea?
  • Remyyy plus 2 years ago
Well, I was searching for a really cheap way to make "videos" projections on my hands and I began to play with a magnifying glass (not sure of the writing of that). And I failed but found this.

is that just baking paper? or opaque paper of some sort?
  • Remyyy plus 5 months ago
Hey ! It's tracing paper. If you go on the shoebox channel, I made a small howto video.
