Campbellton Trip: Shear Demo
This past weekend, Shear Brand did a BMX demo in Campbellton NB, for the "Gravity Hurts Bike Festival 2009". The event took place at Sugarloaf on Saturday August 29th.
The crew consisted of four riders and I. They were: Jeremy Gallant, Kerry Melanson, Michel Bourgoin, and Mitch Geldart.
Friday morning, we left from Moncton for Campbellton NB, stopping at Bathurst Skatepark only to get kicked out ten minutes into riding (they're real tight on the skate only rule). We also needed to visit the local shop "Nipisiguit" to get spokes for Jeremy's busted wheel, doing a backflip at the Bathurst skatepark.
Late afternoon, we arrived at Campbellton, checked-in in a wicked Super 8 Hotel, and headed to Sugarloaf to drop off the ramp and meet the event organizer. We rode the local park for a while till sunset.
Back to the hotel, we hit the pool and jacuzzi for a bit, then headed across the bridge to Québec to get our *Groceries* at the first Irving we found. Too pooped to party, we grabbed a bite to eat and chilled for a bit at the hotel.
Saturday morning, we ate an awesome continental breakfast, then headed to Sugarloaf to set up the Shear Ramp. The guys basically rode all day with a decent crowd. In the afternoon, there was a Pond Crossing event where a bunch of riders competed in crazy events, trying to win a brand new truck.
That night, the Mayhem began. We partied with the locals in Broadland Trailer Park in Québec. It was an interesting time. Then the guys continued partying at the hotel, right through a power outage.
The next morning, because of the rain, we packed up the ramp and left back for Moncton.
