Shot with a still camera. Many, many thanks to Steve for all his Final Cut wisdom and Andrea for sweating through this shoot.

  • Daniel Hayek staff 3 months ago
Crashed by Stereofloat. For some reason the audio came out with a bunch of distortion, oh well no big deal.
  • Luis Caldevilla plus 3 months ago
    It`s Vimeo. You know :)
  • Daniel Hayek staff 3 months ago
Actually the source file has distortion so it wasn't Vimeo.

Xcellent work! How long did it take to put this together?
  • Daniel Hayek staff 3 months ago
About 15- 20 minutes of shooting and then about 25 minutes of editing and negotiating with Final Cut Pro.
  • Christopher Pitbladdo plus 3 months ago
    'Negotiating'. I like it.

I love this! It reminds me of the classic 1952 short film "Neighbors."

At the end it felt like our brains couldn't communicate with our feet anymore. It was impossible to jump in unison!

how exactly you do that? (the vid was great btw :D) but do you have to like..photoshop every image or..what?
  • Daniel Hayek staff 3 months ago
It really depends on the software you have. You're on a windows machine and I use a Mac but...here's what I did-
I took a bunch of pictures while we jumped and then imported that whole set into Final Cut Pro, then i told final cut to show each image for a certain interval I think it was .05 seconds maybe, added some music, a title, and then exported it. All in all time spent actually editing this together was probably about 20-25 minutes. Learning your way around final cut is tricky but i know you can also do something like this with quicktime, you can import images and have it show each at a set interval.

    Hope that helps.
  • Maria Fernanda G. 3 months ago
oh so the original pictures where of you guys Jumping? thats what I wanted to know :D thanks!
  • Daniel Hayek staff 3 months ago
oh, ha ha. yes, i just said 1, 2, 3, jump! over and over again.

    Nice. Excellent title. Good HD.
Remember a lot of similar stuff made a long time ago with 16mm and Super 8 mm cameras with stop motion.
Films were longer, more varied and more fluid too.

Really, really like this and prefer to standard stop motion. Amazing "float" technique with stills. Amazing. Love music too.

I always like seeing stop animation. One day I will get around to making one. They seem like oodles of fun and a totally sick product in the end.

I so want to work in this office so I can high five people while we float. The only thing better would be a post-floating milk shake please.
  • Daniel Hayek staff 2 days ago
Ha ha. We always recommend that milk shakes be consumed post floating high fives.
