Just last month, the Fork, Knife and Glass took the idea to Cape Town hosting the first ever dinner outside of its birth city. Amongst the invited was a copyrighter, an illustrator, a hip hop activist, a social activist, a product designer and curator. The group got together at the warm abode of Jade De Waal in picturesque Gardens/ Tamboerskloof. It was a night of great conversation, warm company and delectable food to be remembered.
Right on the heels of that success, we flew the idea back home and hosted a lunch on the streets of busy Florida road. The objective was to place a well decked out lunch table at a public space which citizens would not generally associate with dining. The lunch celebrated the touch point of ‘’street pop up’’ and cultured dining, the concept also encourages a local movement that chooses a sense of communalism over individualism. The gathering was done in collaboration with the progressive Spiga D Oro eatery.
