Chapter One: 'Bloodstained Footprints' is a short film portraying the experiences of a former soldier who is now adjusting to civilian life.

All war footage was taken by myself on a Sony sky diving camera during my work with the Afghan National Army and Police in Garmsir, Afghanistan.

Shot using the Canon 5D Mark II and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 with Magic Bullet 'Looks' software. Adobe After Effects CS4 used for Special Effects. Music and SFX from Video Copilot's Pro Scores package.

    i'm becoming more and more partial to the short formats, which require a different kind of mettle, a new efficiency much in the way twitter has shaped communication: shorter, sweeter and far more powerful in the way a still image impacts us in just a single moment. these "motion portraits" may be the future of cinema. well done, Marty.
