Lin & Larry Pardey are two of the most renowned cruising sailors of our age. In their youth, their heros were Eric and Susan Hiscock who were early pioneers of world cruising, which began to grow in popularity following WWII. In this interview, Lin and Larry remember their time with the Hiscocks, what they learned from the couple, and their 30 foot sloop, Wanderer III.

TheSailingChannel.TV has digitally remastered to HD Eric & Susan Hiscock's classic feature-length 16mm sailing film, "Beyond the West Horizon," which documents the Hiscock's circumnavigation aboard Wanderer III during the late 1950's. The Hiscocks shot the 16mm color film with a windup camera. On their return, Eric wrote the script and narrated the documentary, which was edited by the BBC and first broadcast on television in 1963. In the following years, the Hiscocks's screened the film at yacht clubs around the world, helping to popularize the notion that everyday sailors could fulfill their dreams of world cruising on a simple, small, and study sailboat.

Today, Wanderer III is well maintained and continues saling into dangerous and rigorous climates under her longtime owners Thies Matzen and Kicki Ericson. Watch their interview at thesailingchannel.tv/hiscock
