1991, March – Thierry Bielak sets new record of 43.06kts at the Trench in private trials
1991, July – 44.66 kts, Thierry Bielak pushes up the bar again at the Trench [see issue 78]
1991 – Dave White claims production "no hands" record at West Kirby with a speed of 31kts on his Sputnik 270.
1991 – Nick Luget and Tushingham win the Wind Swatch event at the Trench with a run of 41.22 kts beating record holder Bielak and Maka in the process.
1991, July – Bjorn blasts everyone away with a 43.34kt run in Tarifa to become the fastest sailor in history on a natural course (i.e. not the Trench!)
1991, October – Dave White breaks production board speed record at West Kirby. F2 Sputnik 270, 42.16kts.
1991 – Sotavento now recognised as too technical a course to be a serious place to set any new records. The sands have shifted and the course now has two – three foot rolling swells on it. Many sailors crash spectacularly.
