Shark Stewards is working with a new Sabah Shark Alliance to establish a shark sanctuary in the state of Sabah on the Island of Borneo. This group is working on no shark fishing and anti shark fining laws in the entire State to protect the diverse and increasingly threatened shark population here in the Coral Triangle Shark tourism may be the only hope for threatened shark species in Malaysia and elsewhere around the world. Driven to the brink of extinction by overfishing largely to satisfy the Asian shark fin soup trade, large sharks are becoming threatened worldwide.
