This video is documentation excerpted from the world premiere of Pamela Z and Christina McPhee's CARBON SONG CYCLE. The premiere was in the cavernous, concrete BAM/PFA (Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive) main gallery on April 12, 2013.
The piece is in 10 movements scored for voice with live processing (delays, granular etc) and a gesture-controller, bassoon, viola, cello, and percussion, with live, multi-channel video (including one movement that involves a live video "painting", which serves as a graphic score for that segment).
Pamela Z (music composition, voice & electronics)
Christina McPhee (video, and video performance)
Dana Jessen (bassoon)
Charith Premawardhana (viola)
Theresa Wong (cello)
Suki O'Kane (percussion)
Set Design: Hargrave Studios

Carbon Song Cycle was supported by the MAP Fund and was commissioned by New Music Bay Area through New Music USA's Commissioning Music/USA program.
