Despite showery conditions, over 100 mountain bikers and runners competed in this tough annual event, which is held almost entirely on pristine forest singletrack trails. The bikers and six of the solo runners competed in the full 56K distance race (two laps). Feeding racers until bloated after the race, the new wood-fired pizza oven pumped out about 70 gourmet pizzas!
Campbell River is at the midpoint of Vancouver Island's east coast. Snowden Forest, shown here, boasts around 80K of well maintained XC mountain bike trails.
