70. Garson Yu interview - Forget the Film, Watch the Titles
2 years ago
watchthetitles.com

Garson Yu is the founder and creative director of yU+co – a motion design company in L.A. responsible for numerous eye-catching title sequences. To name but two highlights: the innovative animated end credit sequence for '300' and the title design for the 6-minute opening sequence of 'Watchmen'. Garson Yu started his career in NYC as a freelance designer at R/GA, then moved to L.A. to join Imaginary Forces as co-creative director alongside partner Kyle Cooper. In 1998 he founded his own company yU+co. We asked Yu about past and current trends in title design and he talks about his favorite title sequence, Se7en.

Forget the Film, Watch the Titles is a website dedicated to title sequence design, featuring many title sequences and interviews with designers:

This interview is the fourth in a series of video interviews with title designers recorded in L.A. in 2009. See also our interviews with Jamie Caliri, Karin Fong, Danny Yount and Kyle Cooper on Vimeo or on Forget the Film, Watch the Titles.
