(HD Video Projection, Mirror, Canvas, Sound Monitors)
This installation explores concepts from Marc Auge’s book, Non-Places. By walking into the corner you see yourself reflected in a mirror and your shadow is cast on a canvas hung on the adjacent wall. A video, which is projected onto the mirror and wall, shows a 30-minute still shot of people passing through a hallway (a place of transit), unaware of why they are being filmed. Walking into the installation prompts questions such as: 'Do they know I'm watching them?’, ‘Is what I am seeing live?’, 'Will I see myself?', 'Am I conscious of how I act in places of transit?'
This piece was shown at Tate Modern as part of the Tate Collective: Hyperlink festival. (26-28 April 2013)
