    Hey David.
Actually, if you look at the poster again, I think you'll see he has done it correctly. The fan is pulling the red balls into the nose. Red for oxygenated blood, not CO2.

    Fantastic work!
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
    Thanks Travis,
when I read this comment a while ago, I was really afraid that I have made a bad mistake. But yes, I also had a second look and I did it the right way: red is Sauerstoff (O2) and blue is Kohlenstoff (CO2). It also makes sense if you follow the way down into the body.
Thanks for the feedback and greetings from Germany,
    Henning

This is amazing! Will this be released as a film? I'm definitely getting this if you are, since Kahn's poster is one of my favourites! can't wait :)
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
Hi Scarlett Fu. I am in contact with the Museum of Man in Dresden, Germany, who are interested in showing the whole installation. This piece is not really a film, but more an interactive animation. But I'll let you know if there will be anything like a film in future... Thanks a öot for the feedback! Greets, Henning

    Wie wär’s mit HD?
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago

This work was the best work that I have ever watched for a long time. I like so much mechanical. And sometimes -when I'm walking especially- I'm shocked by the silence of my body. How this is happening!

I love this too. One thing I wish you could improve is the labels. the small ones are too small to read. I was unable to follow the action in the sugar area since I couldn't read the small signs.
How about creating one that gets down to the level of the cells?
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
Thanks for the feedback. Concerning the labels, well, this work is meant to be displayed on a large rotated screen (portrait format), where you can see all the body parts at the same time in high resolution

For more information about the different organs, there is a pdf on my blog with an overview in german and english >>> machinatorium.wordpress.com/2008/10/25/004/

Down to the cells? Sure, why not... I just have to do another MA course where I have the time to do that... we will see :-)

This is what I imagined my body to look like when I was little, but instead of tiny humans, it was tiny robots.

That's for violating my imagination to bring into reality!!
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
Cheers... tiny robots sounds like an interesting idea as well!

Großartiges Video, einige Passagen erinnern mich an Metropolis von Fritz Lang.
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
Vielen Dank! Allerdings war Metropolis eher Vorbild bei meinem etwas älteren Film MOLOCH (vimeo.com/2978443)... Bei dieser Arbeit hier war Fritz Kahns gleichnamiges Plakat die Vorlage.

Very, very cool indeed. Nicely done, especially with the sounds. But what is the 'interactive' part in this?
  • Henning M. Lederer plus 1 year ago
The interactive part can't be seen in this film, but if you have a look at the pdf from the project-site you'll get the idea (industriepalast.com). As a user you have the possibility to explore the six cycles within the human factory: Five different topics separately or a conglomeration of them all together.
Also, the work is now part of the permanent exhibiton in the German Museum of Man in Dresden where you can try it out – if you will ever be there.
    Cheers,
    Henning

Very nice thinking piece. Our bodies are indeed machines. They are not perfect though so we must make sure to take care of it the best we can.
