A hand of Word that knows its kind constructs, reveals, knows, and in so knowing is crushed to release the living. Here a dance begins in simple touch, exploration, and illumination. The partner is the creating Word, the Father as its child bends towards and spins from its stance. The body functions as one with marks of paint. I had the privilege of first performing this piece in a show called the Unfair, curated by Jennifer Wallace and Mikel Glass, where I dance, next to another beautiful performance piece (note the men painted in white) in segments of about eight minutes over a period of about five days. In each performance I explored, in each movement on the floor and canvas, the intimate journey of discovering God's beauty in His creation as well as the pain of its falling and necessity of His sacrifice. The words of the good Sherpard in John 10 that listened and responded to our suffering in Isaiah 53 unfold as I dance through memories and new moments of rescue discovery and intercession.
