The Union County Council of Governments received the William C. Habig Collaborative Achievement Award at MORPC's 2013 State of the Region Luncheon. The award is presented to an individual or individuals who have achieved an effective effort or innovative collaborative in Central Ohio.

The Union County Council of Governments, comprised of the City of Marysville, Union County and the Marysville Exempted Village School District, is working together to bring new technology and shared services to members of the Council through their Consolidated Fiber Network Project. In 2012 the project was rated the top Local Government Innovation Fund project by the Ohio Development Services Agency. It has enabled members to collaborate, share resources, reduce costs, centralize supervision and enhance technology for the respective entities and the public.
