I "paid" to do the early development of the motorized hang glider. 1975: Self-Taught in one of Larry "Barely" Newman's Electra-Flyer 20/18 Pathfinders with a really cool "BATMAN" emblem design (lost Eddie Monty on Shaw Butte, R.J. Sadowski near Mingus Mountain, some "cute girl" named Mikki at Merriam Crater, and "THE NAMELESS OTHERS"). 1979: Self-Taught (with Neil Russell!) in my highly modified Electra-Flyer Cirrus 5A powered by an alcohol burning McCulloch engined Soarmaster Power-Pack (lost Mike Coker, little Tommy Goodman, & Stevey McCarroll). 1981: Flew the motorized C5 up & down the Las Vegas Strip at midnight (got a "back-handed" compliment from someone I was told was the world famous aviator, then pitiful recluse... Howard Hughes, "Hey kid! You the IDIOT that's been flying that lawn chair up and down the street? Nice work kid."
I built an A/C Commander gyro in '88 (lost my instructor and friend, Jim DiGaetano). I have an original Oyster Bay Paramotor "Paramonster" now. I've taken it out a couple times but "just can't seem to engage" anymore (lost Mike Rish).
"Damage seems to be cumulative and irreversible."
Your "FREE TO ADVENTURE" video was great! No. It was truly "noble" (something Roald Amundsun might say ("THE RED TENT"). I went from "approving grins" to "remembered tears" thinking about all the kids I never saw grow-up to get old with me. We had a ball developing the damn things though. We paid a high price to see that vision beyond the ground... but watching your beautiful video with its wonder inspiring sound track, made it all worth it.
Simply amazing now. As easy as "flying a motorcycle"!
Good Luck & God Bless.
PS. Is that YOU or ME wearing the white bass boat mask in the picture? I shot one just like it at the Bass Pro Shop here in Vegas (must be great in the winter. I could have really used it while flying a double surfaced Quicksilver on a cross-country in Ada, Minnesota in February of 87. I earned a "Frostbite Flyer" patch on that 40 BELOW adventure).
More... please.
