This video highlights our Climbing For Kids journey to the summit of Mount Olympus, WA.
Through Climbing for Kids, you raise funds, we give you $1500 of gear donated by our generous sponsors, then you hit the trail for an exciting experience in the backcountry. The money you raise benefits teachers and youth workers with the training and free access to gear they need to help them get youth outdoors – most of them for the first time!
Do something rewarding for yourself and at-risk youth!
Join us on an inspiring mountain trip for a worthy cause! You’ll keep $1500 worth of new gear — and get the experience of a lifetime while raising funds for a unique non-profit. You'll be supporting Bay Area Wilderness Training’s mission: helping teachers and youth workers get urban kids outdoors for life-changing experiences!
Bay Area Wilderness Training has been a solid part of the Bay Area outdoor world since its inception in 1999. Through its hard work, more than 25,000 youth have been afforded the opportunity to get outside and experience the outdoors firsthand. BAWT has grown to serve kids in the East Bay from its headquarters in Oakland, in San Francisco and the peninsula at the Presidio through its Camping at the Presidio (CAP) Program, and the entire South Bay region from its office in Milpitas. Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) is a non-profit that relies on donors and adventure fundraising programs like Backpacking for Kids.
BAWT is project of Earth Island Institute 501(c)3
