3 Directors + 3 Stories - Test Footages Using The Cinevate Pegasus Tracking System & Nikon D90
3 months ago
/// 3 Directories + 3 Stories
A series of test footage that was designed for test but yet we wanted to entertain you as well.
This time round we tested the Cinevate's Pegasus Tracking System on a Nikon D90 with a Zeiss 50mm Lens.
Pro:
1. The tracking movement was simply smooth and it was great with a DSLR Video Camera on it..
2. Adjustable positioning.
3. If you own a Rail System from Cinevate. You just got to buy it's Pegasus Kit and you are ready to add some dynamic movements to your footage.
Cons:
1. It is no Heavy lifter thus side tracks are much difficult on a HVX200 with a 35mm Adapter. Still works alright when tracking forward instead of doing side tracks.
2. Though the position of the camera is adjustable with the Proteus but it is limited compared to a fluid head that can add on additional movements .
//Conclusion
The Pegasus is a great tool for Cinematographers & Film-makers who needs a dolly shoot of a short distance especially if you are using a DSLR or Camera without a depth of field adapter. A great add on to the collection of Cinevate gears if you are already a Cinevate user such as the DSLR & 35mm Adapter Rail System .

3 months ago looks kind of shaky. Doesn't have that silky smoothness that a diy Igus slider has. -
Danial Haris 3 months agoJust view the website on the IGUS slider. It's simillar to the Cinevate's Pegasus Heavy Lifter & The IndiSlider Pro. Just that for IGUS it's pretty much DIY. :) -
Danial Haris 3 months agoI don't know if the 3 of us did justice to the Pegasus but definitely onset it was smooth enough for us. Though in post we realize we were laughing to much when filming the videos causing some jerkiness in the video along the way. I especially like the shoot that I took in my video "Exploring The Pegasus" @ 00:27. Like I mention earlier the Pegasus is a great add on tool for Cinevate users with a rail system. I believe there are more tracking system out there. If you guys could share more info of the sliders, I would gladly give it a try. Cheers! -
Danial Haris 3 months agoA scripted movie is never for fun. It is always costly and requires lots of coordination and planning. Equipments don't come in cheap. But definitely we would like to work on a short and probably a feature film in the near future. Just hoping to get fundings from somewhere! It's prety tough here in Singapore. Everyone can now make films with the kind of money and equipments avalibale on the shelf.
