Just back from your blog to see how you made it. That Olympus effect looks cool on my iMac, its like I am watching it projected onto a ground glass screen. I like your mate's song too.
  • Mike Kobal plus 3 months ago
:O) thanks Andrew. yup, exactly my thoughts when I saw it for the first time, like a ground glass projection.

    Awesome video as always, question
    Lumix Gh1
    or
    Nikon D90
which do you prefer for video and why.
  • Mike Kobal plus 3 months ago
thanks DJ. GH1 no question. Manual control for aperture and exposure time in video mode, High resolution swivel lcd, 720/60p versus 720/24, (getting some real nice slow motion-like on my previous video) if video is a priority, the GH1 is top right now. the only camera that beats it in terms of image quality, is the 5D. (depends on the situation) Not sure why Nikon did not provide a fimware update for the D90 yet to allow for manual video control.

Mike, I won't lie. You've been spamming me with videos for weeks, months even and I never payed you one bit of attention because I thought you were just like the rest going for the over-the-top saturation effect, and quite frankly I think you still are, thus I thought all your videos, whether good or not, would in my mind be both crap and annoying and quite honestly it frustrated the HELL out of me that you'd send me this random shit in the first place anyway.

    However.

    I was wrong.

This is excellent, I really really like it.

But, that's not to say I enjoy your spamming/video sharing because I don't.

Still, I really like this and I've "been shown the light" so as to not think that any and everything you're going to show slash share with me in the future is going to be shite, at least, not initially :P.

Cheers and good work once again.
  • Mike Kobal plus 3 months ago
glad you like it Rigged Production. How about no more emails from me, just check back from time to time. Spamming was not my intention.

I have watched this several times already, and even though it seems so simple it just works, and actualy stands out...I can't wait to get my hands on a gh1 (once someone decides to have one in stock lol). I have 2 friends that both have the canon 5d, and I know for the most part the canon is superior in still pics and hdv video (under most circumstances) but besides for the price I am so much more interested in purchasing the gh-1.

BTW, I wish this clip was available for download so I could watch it on my big screen
  • Mike Kobal plus 2 months ago
thanks 33.333. you can download it from youtube, just posted there.yes, it is a tough call, I do think the gh1 does have a few advantages, the 5d really shines in low light and when it comes to bokeh. I am using my canon and sigma lenses on the gh1 now via adapter and that is awesome.
