This exctracts are from the center part of Voices of the Whales is of a video improvisation made for BIT20, accompanying the piece Vox Balaenae (1971) by composer George Crumb. The video was projected onto the large wall behind the musicians in such a way that the projected image also fell on the musicians who where wearing white clothes.
When preparing for this concert, I had never heard the musical piece and it was unavailable in Bergen. I had to settle with reading about it, study the score (allthough I cannot read notes) and listening to tiny samples to be found on the internet. I wanted something that could visualize big, slow movements as well as tiny details. The different parts, are named after the 5 diffrent eras ending with (…) End of Time. Enclosed is exctracts of Paleozoic.
