Now that I have finished University for the second year (phew!), I wanted to continue using Adobe Premiere Pro. So, what better way to do it than download the 30 day trial version, and have a play with some F1 clips in there?
I could have either done real F1 video clips (Vimeo's guidelines put that at an obvious no, no) or install the old legend that is Grand Prix 4 and download modded 2013 files. The second option was a much more 'fun' idea for myself given that I would have no idea what would unfold in front of me, ie. I was to a degree going in blindfolded. Oh, and I wanted it all Creative Commons', including the soundtrack.
Whilst I cannot take credit for the fantastic Melbourne circuit, upgraded to 2013 spec, or the 2013 cars, all of the editing is mine as was me watching the race itself. The edit itself is not perfect - the joys of trying to edit a 25GB file in Premiere Pro and cutting in and out at various points - but I wanted to get this up online so I could move onto Malaysia, so I can get at least 3 or 4 races up here before the 30 day trial expires.
The song is "Curtain Up" by Jahzzar (betterwithmusic.com). I decided on the song after looking around a bit on the Vimeo Creative Commons store and felt it worked well with four sections of the video: Qualifying; Start; Ferrari collision and build-up to end; Race conclusion.
NOTE: Whilst it is mainly '2013 spec', unfortunately the Mercedes cars and one of the Caterham's are still stuck with the 2001 helmets as the 2013 helmets refused to install correctly!
