Note: If you're easily offended by bad language, or you've got impressionable kids lurking over your shoulder, please be aware that I get quite startled in this video and nervously blurt out a couple of expletives. The f-word and the s-word, to be precise. It's no big deal, but I just figured I should mention it.

Anyway...

While enjoying a few weeks of vacation time in Toronto this August 2009, I witnessed some crazy lightning storms rolling through the city, viewed from way up on the 29th floor of the building I was staying in. Naturally, I went out onto the balcony to try and get a few shots of the action.

As I was recording a few random video clips of the rain pouring down around me, the lightning actually struck the building somewhere off to my left. I don't know exactly where it hit, but it felt pretty damn close! I wasn't facing it directly, but I did see very clear flashes of light in my peripheral vision, whizzing down the side of the building. I sure heard it, too! It sounded like someone firing a police tazer right next to me. Zzzzzzzzzap!

All in all it was a nice little adrenaline rush!
