This record is a part of "cutting record - a record without (or with) prior acoustic information" project at IAMAS iamas.ac.jp . To produce the record with a laser cutter (VLS2.30 with HPDFO lens), white acrylic, and the legendary first computer singing "Daisy Bell" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daisy_Bell , we developed a custom application github.com/mitsuhito/CuttingRecordGenerator . The application generates a spiral groove from an audio file in a form of SVG. The resulted 7 inch could be played with any standard record players. Through the work, we would like to examines the role of musical reproduction in the age of personal fabrication.
