    Hi Ole!

Beautiful video - I look forward to capturing some water droplets myself!

I'm curious - the download for this file is 1080p, but the title says 720p. Did you shoot 1080, or 720 and then convert to 1080?

    Thank you!

    Hello

With 50P or 60P it is 720, but in Final Cut I made it as 1080. I should make one more version in 720...

Okay. I went to view it and was a little confused. Thank you for clearing that up!

So the 25% slowed down was done in After Effects? The cam can shoot 50 or 60, which played back at 25 or 30 is 50%, and the 25% is not native out of the camera, right?

    Hello Jeff

Thats right. The 25% is slowed down in Final Cut, but I think it´s interesting to test it out. With 50P and 25P in Finalcut, you get great results with 50% speed...

How'd you get the camera? What kind of shooting do you normally do? What are your thoughts about it at this point? Thanks.

I´m a Canon Master in Norway, and I´m testing some of the new cameras and lenses..
    I normally do wildlife: naturfokus.info/EN
My first thougts is that this camera is very good, and better tha expected!

Good specifically for wildlife video? That's what I'm thinking of using it for. Would really appreciate a word of advice. I

The problem with moving animals and video filming with 5D II and 7D is the focus. The AF-system is not working good enough in video mode, so you are stucked with manual focus. But, the video quality of these cameras are great!

Have you tried putting the 50p footage in a 25p timeline, this should play the clip back natively at 25p, opposed to slowing down the footage with FCP
  • Ole Jørgen Liodden plus 2 months ago
Yes I´ve put the clip in 25P timeline and speed to 50% in Final Cut 2. FC didn´t automaticaly adjusted the speed..

What is the bitrate in 1920x1080, 24, 25 and 30 fps?
  • Ole Jørgen Liodden plus 2 months ago
    25p
  • Andreas Schnell 2 months ago

Great review, can you change shooting to 60p and have the extra 10fps on the European sample camera? The water would look a bit better at 24fps slowed down.
  • Ole Jørgen Liodden plus 2 months ago
Yes, you can change to 60P..

    Hi there!

Just a comment to autofocus. I work as an professonal television photographer, I never use autofocus. But we have fast-"focus" buttons on some of our videocameras. How is the LCD on the Canon 7d functioning on doing focus work?
  •
  • Ole Jørgen Liodden plus 2 months ago
In my opinion the LCD-screen is not good enough for serious focusing. I will test this camera with external view finder or a Marshall montior, and the camera mounted to a rig with "Follow focus"-system. After that I hope it will work more better on moving objects...

I also hope Canon soon will produce a camera with excellent AF-system also in Live View mode...

Where can one find links to short, unedited clips of EOS 7D video in their native 1280x720 60p h.264 MOV format? I'd like to see which media players and editing packages support the format without prior transcoding. I presume the uploads to Vimeo are cut to 24p and a lower bitrate. Does that cause some IQ loss?

    Hi Ole
when you compare the wobbling effect, is it any better than 5dmark2?
