Trailer for Rawcliffe House 2013.
I was delighted to gain access to and meet the new residents of Rawcliffe House, which is local to where I live.
Through the residents' generosity with both their knowledge and their time, I made this beautiful film that charts the lives of the original owners, Fanny and Alexander Bannatyne Stewart, the Camelite Nuns who called this place home for over 90 years and the current residents.
This film shows the contrasting experiences of the Camelite Nuns who lived in this building in a very basic and bitterly cold environment and the luxurious experiences of the current owners of the converted flats. What struck me most was just how important the idea of home is to people and how each person has strived to make their home more than mere 'bricks and mortar'. Thanks again to the folk that I filmed.
This film is the first film in a series called 'Beautiful Scottish Buildings.' Lookout for new films in the near future.
