It seems you use a ton of light at receptions. Don't people complain?

    5D?
  • jeff chan plus 3 months ago
I'm pretty sure everybody will change their mind about the 'ton of light' after they actually see the final result!
  • john markert 3 months ago
Personally, I like to light the dance floor with 2 lights, but I've had many complaints from guests and even a few who kept unplugging them (they're only on when I need them). Most of my competitors shoot with low-light cameras (e.g., Sony 390) and a 20 watt camera light. Your clients must be willing to put up with cranky guests.

This compilation is the first time I've been literally dumbfounded by how far Stillmotion has come in the 4 years or so (has it really been that long?) since Patrick and I first chatted on the phone about using adapters in weddings. Yes, that's a terrible run-on sentence but jeeps, I still get excited when the creative boundaries are pushed. Storytelling, even in small bits, makes such a huge difference and it shows in just about everything the Stillmotion team does. The external/internal dance rehearse sequence makes it look like you've scripted the wedding...and I know you haven't! The difference is you saw what they were doing outside and knew it was going to happen inside...and you were there for it! The camera on the cart delivering treats to the bridal prep room...perfect. I'm almost tempted to ditch my weekend here and go do some 3D design work on our next (2 actually) surprises for you guys :-)

    Cheers,
    Dennis Wood

This is satisfaction of required fun and funny for watching. All weeding video must be this required for to be good 2 thing, fun and funny. But wedding film is different in required. Must be 3 Act to as film with hero and villian. Many musics of copyright inside there! Do you have licensing to use these musics? Important, Greetings.

Interesting. Zooms are nearly non-existent in the piece, but nearly every shot moves. Like movies before zoom lenses.
  • endless wave studios plus 3 months ago
a lot of slow zooms would pull you out of the story...you need to go to the evolution experience with SM. Best thing I ever did. All the little things that you see here such as lighting, and the style in which it is shot, will all be understood, and it will change your life.

You're definitely my favorite cinematographer that's for sure! Do you usually grade your footage or keep it natural from the camera?

    Great work! :)

What steadycam system is used at 01:45?
  • Eric Richner 2 months ago
Yes I was wondering the same thing.

Is it the Steadicam Merlin with the Arm & Vest?

Also, when doing the paintball scene, can you give me details on exactly what setup you use on the Steadicam (box and the frame holding the camera)

  • I've been following you all for the last 6 months or so and having just picked up video myself in the last 3 months it is now even more evident-- you all are consistently inventing and creating... paving your own pathways. I pray I have as persistent a drive for the new and passion for the creative. THANKS for pursuing that which you are called to do. It's obvious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have a big question! Are the panning shots around 3:15 are they just different pans that have been connected with a transition like a swipe and blur? I see this effect is very popular nowadays just wanted to see if you or anyone could explain this?
