Spring Soiree brings new work and repertory to the stage, opening with Rock (2011), Space Pixelation (2012) and Talvi Valo (Winter Light) 2012 followed by 2013 Premieres The Keeper, Eidos, Dance Letters and Light Solo. The new work will continue to develop and become an evening length choreography "Light". The new work was partially inspired by a sparkler dance that my father and his friend performed for me and my twin sister when we were two and lived in an Alaskan homesteader cabin with no electricity. Reflections on the creative process...

"Every day my body seems to have its own weather/climate/mood and I create materials that come from the day…I have always marveled at the magic of light – moonlight sparkle on snow, ocean waters changing reflective hue, stars, bubbles floating in the air catching the light. When I create materials, I imagine myself in darkness illuminated by costume and in part, this image informs the phrases. I am perhaps becoming of light and the choreography is a vehicle for transmitting the light experience to viewers. “ Mariah Maloney
