I’m devoted to portraiture because, as the French philosopher Jean-Luca Nancy states, is the essence of painting.
But I don’t wont just to represent the subjects resemblance but mainly their character even if they are still recognisable in my portraits.
In order to be as much essential as possible I renounced to brushes, canvas and colours and I paint on white paper using my fingers dipped in black acrylic painting.
Most of the portraits are entitled “Glance” because are mainly cut in order to select the essential elements characterising the expression: mouth, nose and especially eyes.
The paper is usually 150 x 100 cm. but recently I started to paint on wider sheets 300 x 250 cm. and I’m still considering the value of the enlargement of the representation.
