This is a video that is made from over 400 images that I created from 2003-2009. Bits and pieces from commercial, rejected and personal projects. I had been collecting all those images to use in a completely different project, but then discovered that they could look great in animation too. After painful days in After Effects, fighting with all those 400 layers (and nearly killing my computer), the video was complete.

Very cool. A suggestion though for after effects: since the first few images you cant see anymore by the middle of the the reel... you can trim the layer so that AE doesn't have to render them throughout the whole composition.

Or you could render out portions of the video uncompressed that were final and reimport them as an asset and just lay them into the composition, and then continue on.

Thanks. Yeah that was what I ended up doing, created 4 comps, then put them all together afterwards.

besides your great design and graphics word i also love the beautifully minimal animation!
you should probably get into coding a bit (processing, javascript/extendscript,..) and have fewer painful days ;)
however.. it was worth the effort!

yeah. With expression scripts in AE, you'd probably only need to keyframe one layer.
