The year is 2054. Europe, somewhere in the middle.

Nations and borders have long lost their meaning. The old conventions no longer count, power now lies in the merciless line between the haves and the have-nots.

Megacorporations, each a worldwide, sovereign empire unto itself, reign with the cold force of big business. They install governments, fell rulers. Wage war. War in the long, dark shadows of the humongous cities. War behind the scenes, quiet, secretive and deadly.

Paul manages to get by more or less successfully, young, criminally inclined, fervent hi-tech buff. He knows how this world works. He's heard of the agents' wars in the shadows, of their unsung heroes.

He receives a hint, a good job, lots of cash and an opportunity to make a name for himself. The big game beckons, and a long, long night in the shadows starts
for Paul, between the street and cyberspace, between concrete and magic. Between life and death.
