This short promo was created through a stop motion workshop I ran at the Chelsea District Library during their staff in-service day. It was a fun way for creative team building, while the staff directly helped to create a promotional animation for the library.

First, the soundtrack was edited from an old copyright free library promo in the Prelinger Archives and customized through voiceover I performed.

I then played the soundtrack for the staff and showed them how to use two animation stations using DragonFrame software and DSLR cameras connected to laptops. We also set up a big table full of materials like magazines, fridge magnets, toys, etc.

They pored through these materials to create the character visualizations, animated them in simple shots, and I helped tie it all together by compositing the characters into still photography I took at the library while they animated frame by frame.

It was a fun experience, with an ice cream break!
