Gritty Prison-Noir bare knuckle fighting and philosophising.
A little drop-everything film* which started as a simple showreel recording for two fight choreographer friends of mine (the film's leads) and evolved into something a little bit more. Apart from the choreography, it was devised and shot in literally two days with help from Secret Cinema (set and costumes) and some talented cast and crew who worked for free at virtually zero notice.
*A 'drop everything' film: A film that is made at super short notice, using available free resources and which requires everyone involved to drop everything and get stuck in quick! Love this kind of 'paintbrush to canvas' filmmaking (to quote Rodriguez), it's exciting and spontaneous and reminds me of why I got into film in the first place.
All the cast and crew who came and worked for free - sorry we provided pizza for lunch!
Secret Cinema for allowing us to use (and paint!) their set and costumes
Adam Etherington for lending us his camera kit
Panalux for giving us free lighting
Toby and Spencer @ Marshall Street Editors for cutting the film
Julien and Fi @ Finish for the grade
