I followed the tutorial "Cutting Class: The Joy of Coloring" on Digital Juice DJTV an tried it on some of my footage, which I took during a journey to Australia and Dubai.

In the rectangle you can see the result of the color correction. The changes I made were only very minor and mainly just the adjustment of contrast and luminance.

My original footage was already pretty good, as I adjusted the white balance before every single shot.

My camera was a Canon HV10, I use Sony Vegas 7 Pro

You really should have a look at the tutorial on digitaljuice.com/ . I was surprised how easy it is to get a pretty impressive improvement on many shots.

Nicely done. When you said you white balanced before every shot, did you have a card or did you calibrate on something that was lying around?

I had a white card as well a a white translucent lens cover with me. When I was hit by the same light as the object which I was filming, i used the white card. When I was for example inside of a building, filming outside, I used the white lense cover for adjusting the white balance. If you don't know the white lens covers - you just put them on like any other lens cover, set your lens to max zoom, point it towards the object which you want to film and adjust then the white balance. However, using the white lens covers might lead to a wrong white balance if one color in front of you is strongly dominating. Still better than nothing, though..

I don't know about your camera, but on the HV20 you can do all that and get the right colors... no post adjustments.

Look at some of my video. I seldom ever touch anything in post... no color correction.
If I ever 'color correct' it's really just adjusting the 'contrast' or the brightness a small amount if needed.
    That's it.

In case anyone interested in-camera adjustment:
shoot cine 24P and make all the internal tweeks to: (plus) contrast, color and other "C" (custom) settings in the menu.
Never shoot on "auto" settings and lock exposure to suit your video as what mood you vant to convey.
See my "newport bridge' video as an example.

One really important setting is WB if you want nice colors:
Always use SHADE settings, regardless if it's full sun or not. You'll see a much warmer film-like video.

Once you have everything correct in the camera, you won't waste time in post and try to fix things that could have been done in the camera in the first place.
