In the lower levels of the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum a lot of effort goes into restoring the collection . Take a look at what's going into Paul Thek's "Fishman" in order to stabilize the the materials the artist chose for the project. In many cases the artist didn't consider the life span of the piece, now the decision has to made as to what the artists' intent was when the art was created.
