Specially commissioned project for Illuminating York, October - November 2007 in northern England, Evoke was a massive animated projection that lit up the facade of York Minster in response to the public, who used their own voices to "evoke" colourful light patterns that emerged at the building's foundations and soared up towards the sky, giving the surface a magical feeling as it melted with colour. Programmed to follow the contours of the buidling, the colours skimmed the surface of the Minster, poured round its features and crevasses, emerging finally near the top of the facade where they sparkled high overhead.
Built with Processing. Required 4 x Christies 18k lumen digital projectors mounted on a scaffolding tower.
