The Ocean City beach has been having beach replenishment recently to replace the beach and dunes wiped out by Hurricane Sandy last year. Ocean City fared very well compared to other shore towns- we were very lucky!
Recorded with my Droid cellphone on 16 May 2013 at the Music Pier. The pumping barge is at least a half mile offshore and the pipe from the barge goes underwater to the shore down around 4th Street and then the pipe goes along the beach to where you see it, around 9th Street.
**CORRECTION**- The pumping barge is way down past the northern tip of the Ocean City island, out in the ocean by the inlet! Yikes! Think of how much power/force is needed to be able to suck the sand up from under the ocean, send it via pipe to shore and then along more large pipes to where it is distributed on the beach- and it is coming out of that pipe still with tremendous force!
