How To Use the BossJock App with a USB Dynamic Microphone
Many of you who subscribe to the Digital Media Branding Podcast have heard me comment about how content is king when it comes to the web. Individuals are ready to consume new content or visit quality content that is presented in new and unique ways.
Hello my name if Carlos Quintero, owner and founder of MediaOnQ.
The BossJock App from BossJockStudio.com is an amazing iOS app that delivers in all areas, from functionality to versatility. It simply makes it possible for anyone with an iPhone or iPad to immediately have the ability to become content producers or contributors.
I would like to take a moment to thank +Ray Ortega a.k.a. @podcasthelper on twitter or The Podcasters' Studio on iTunes for the inspiration behind the video demo.
After watching a video demo of this app by Ray Ortega on YouTube, it opened up a world of opportunities in my head.
How many times have you heard something over the Radio or Television that clearly lacked high quality audio? My guess is more than once.
So, with that in mind I wondered, can the BossJock App deliver high quality audio on location, away from a production studio or sound treated room?
After a brief tweet exchange with Ray Ortega he then inspired the video demo. Ray shows us in his video how to use the app, and get outstanding sound quality from it using a highly affordable dynamic USB microphone.
My RODE Podcaster is an awesome microphone but it is north of $200. Ray's tweet to me suggested that I was not taking the cheap route toward my goal. Clearly he was correct.
I then realized that the first microphone that I'd ever owned was attached to the ear buds that came with my phone.
In the video, I then take the BossJock App out of the studio and into an untreated environment. I record using the higher priced RODE USB Dynamic Microphone the Podcaster, followed by recording using the ear buds and mic that came with my phone. I then also use the Bose iPhone Headset and microphone to get a comparison against two ear bud mic combos. And finally, I use the iPhone to also then capture high quality audio using the BossJock App.
You will notice audio changes as I switch from my Lavalier microphone for video to the audio that was recorded and published by the BossJock App.
Let me know what you think, your feedback is appreciated. I'm Carlos Quintero, thank you for watching.
