Mr Zux - 'Can Never Be Me' music video
Music video I did for Mr Zux from his forthcoming album Africanspearacy Theory. An album definitely worth checking if you like this style of hip hop!
I just completed this music video for Mr Zux the other day. Apart from the 2 G's shots which took about 5 minutes, it was all filmed in a day around the backyard of Zux's old place. Shot on a Canon HV20 with an SG Pro 35mm adapter and a Nikon f/1.4 50mm lens. Edited in Sony Vegas with with additional compositing done in Commotion Pro 4.1.
Matte Paintings were created using an old copy of Photoshop Elements 5 with a few old photos mashed together.

Still got me stuffed how you shot all this in a day :)...
Keep up the good work....How long did it take in the editing room ???
Nearly all in one day. Maybe 3 hours all up? The additional shots were the G's. Took about 5 minutes to shoot those guys a week later whilst shooting the other video I'm finishing now. See the photos. It was all shot in the backyard there. The courtroom and doctor surgery were bluescreen shots, so no worrying about locations.
Editing took a while and so did compositing the bluescreen shots.
Glad you like the blurred backgrounds :-) I feel so slack doing that because it only takes a few seconds. Load up the plugin, turn down the blur and that's it. The rest of my workflow is a complete mess though.
Cheers from Canada.
Your Not going to seriously tell me that you did this with the HV20 are you???? :O
Stunning work mate ...I LOVE IT!
Are those Blue tarp you're using or one very Large sheet ??
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to watch this Glenn
I've been stuck on another job that's driving me CRAZY!!!!
You are the Master of Music videos mate :))))
GREAT VID.... Bravo!!
Yes, all HV20, plus the SG Pro 35mm adapter. Maybe if I do enough of these videos I'll be able to afford the new Canon 7D. Too broke right now though.
The bluescreen is just a couple of large sheets.. Fabric from Spotlight. I think 1m wide x 5m pieces sewn together by Lydia and her mum so they're each 3m x 5m. I bought the wall piece about 5 years ago which is nylon. Then when I went back a year later they didn't sell it anymore, so I got a cotton fabric which is a different colour. Still, close enough for the bluescreen to work :)
