Animata is a cross-platform open source real-time animation software for live performance developed in Kitchen Budapest in 2007.

The software makes it really easy to create scenes with virtual puppets, which can be moved according to live input signals received from various physical sensors, microphones or cameras.

This video demonstrates Animata reacting to live audio input.

    thank you all. i'm glad you like it. since the program is under development, we have concentrated on the fundamental elements so far. because of this, we have found it easier to record the output in real-time, which is easier in lower resolutions.

    the program is going to be released soon, so you can play with it. we are just trying to fix some of the last known bugs before uploading the binaries and releasing the code.

    Thanks Carlos! The song has no name, since it's an interactive piece built up from sound samples. The viewers can control the musicians by pressing buttons on a mobile phone, which makes the music and moves the puppets.

    It's not an app, but rather an real-time animation made with animata. Animata is available for mac. The jazz band animation is included in the program as an example.
